Green gram is very famous and everybody​ knows about this and its taste because it became a part of our life. Green gram is very healthy protein rich item which is mostly used by vegetarians. Vegetarians will have less protein so it will help to increase its quantity of human body. We are making different tasty dishes with this tasty green gram. Green gram curry, stir fry and salad are the common and dish of green gram.It is looking very attractive with green colour and very soft. It is very tasty if we make any dish with this.
I would like to share very tasty Green Gram stir fry and it is also known as Cherupayar Ularthiyathu. This is very simple and easy method. It can use as the side dish with breakfast, lunch and dinner and I like to use this as the side dish with hot plain rice. It is very tasty and easy traditional stir fry. It is spicy less stir fry so everyone can use it. It is one of the super side dish with rice and Kanji. Green gram contains a lot of health benefits so we can use it daily basis. It contains protein contents so it will be very good for children. Its price is little bit high so we can't buy this every time. We can make different variety dishes by using this. This dish will be suitable to children when they are going to school. Its main flavours are Garlic, Pepper Powder and shallots. This dish is highly helpful to vegetarians. This is completely homemade, natural and traditional dish. I got this recipe from my mother and she was preparing it from my childhood.

Preparation Time - 5 minutes
Cooking Time - 25 minutes
Decoration - Fried Red chilli

Ingredients

Green Gram - 1 cup
Onion - 2
Garlic - 2
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut Oil - 1 tab spoon
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Shallot - 3
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Red chilli - 2
Salt - To taste
Water - 1 1/2 cups

Method
  • Wash green gram and put it in pressure cooker.
  • Remove the peel of Onion and wash well and slice it thin and lengthy.
  • Then add these sliced onions, salt to pressure cooker.
  • Pour water as required to cooking  and cook it until 2 whistles and keep it aside.
  • In a pan, heat coconut oil and splutter mustard seeds.
  • To this add chopped garlic and shallot and saute it well until fry.
  • Then add curry leaves and red chilli and fry it.
  • Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder and pepper powder and saute well until remove the raw taste.
  • To this add cooked green gram and mix well.
  • Transfer it in a serving bowl and serve it.
Tips
  • You can use only Shallots to get more taste add instead of using onion.
  • To save cooking time and get softness sock green gram in overnight.
