BEEF CURRY

Beef is very famous and favourite item for non-vegetarians. Beef dishes are using as the side dish with breakfast, lunch and dinner. We can't avoid beef dishes in special occasions or functions. It contains fat which is giving more taste in beef dishes. We are getting a lot of different tasty dishes from hotels and restaurants especially in Kerala. Keralites can't imagine their life without Beef dishes.
We can make a lot of variety dishes by using beef and beef curry is very famous, tasty and popular curry among beef dishes. We can make beef curry in different method based on our taste. It is very simple and easy method to make at home. This is very tasty and medium spicy dish and it is an excellent combination with rice, chapati, bread, and tapioca. We need not to add so many ingredients to make this curry and also it won't take too much time to prepare. Usually it is served as the side dish of breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would like to use this dish with Mashed Tapioca. It will be very special dish for guests also. Garam masala flavour is the main flavour of this dish because I added this at last step. I haven't added any artificial things to increase taste so that it is completely natural. Another important thing is that we are using very less quantity of coconut oil and we are using pure coconut oil without heat so it is completely healthy dish. I know that everyone will like this dish very much. Let us enjoy with this tasty non-vegetarian dish.

Preparation Time - 15 minutes
Cooking - 25 minutes

Ingredients

Beef - 500 gm
Onion - 2
Green Chilli - 3
Chopped Ginger - 1 teaspoon
Chopped Garlic - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 3 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder - 2 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 3 teaspoon
Pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala - 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut Paste - 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Salt - To taste
Coconut Oil - 1 tab spoon

Method
  • Cut beef as small pieces and wash gently and keep it aside in a pot.
  • Remove the peel of Onion and wash it well and chop it.
  • In a pan, add beef pieces, chopped onion, green chilli, chopped ginger, chopped garlic and salt and mix well.
  • To this add turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, curry leaves and salt and mix well and leave it for 10 minutes.
  • Then add water as required to cooking and cook it half.
  • Then add coconut paste to this half cooked beef and mix well and cook it well.
  • To this add gram masala and mix well. 
  • Then add coconut oil and mix well and serve it.
Tips
  • Its taste will increase if you cook beef in coconut milk.
  • You can splutter mustard seeds to get good taste.
  • To get more taste and flavour add fennel powder and fenugreek powder.
  • To save cooking time cook beef in a pressure cooker.

Ingredients

Red Cowpeas - 1 Cup
Onion - 1
Green Chilli - 1
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut Milk - 1/2 Cup
Coconut Oil - 1 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon
Chopped Shallots - 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 2 Sprigs
Salt - To Taste
Water - As required for cooking

Method

Sock Red Cowpeas in Water overnight and wash it well next day.Peel the skin of Onion and wash well and chop it.Wash Green Chilli and slice it thin and lengthy.Take a pan and put Red Cowpeas, chopped Onion, sliced Green Chilli, some Curry Leaves, Salt and enough Water to cooking and cover it and cook well.Heat a small pan and heat Coconut Oil and splutter Mustard seeds in it.Then add chopped Shallots and Curry Leaves and fry well.Turn down the fire and add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder and Black Pepper Powder and saute well until remove raw smell.Add cooked Red Cowpeas into this and mix well.…
