We can make tasty dishes by using Jack Fruit and Jack Fruit Masala is one of them. Usually everybody is making mashed Jack Fruit but here I am showing a different and variety tasty dish. May be this will be new to everybody so I am really happy to share this dish to everybody.
It is one special traditional jack fruit masala curry and its main specialty is that the taste of roasted masala flavour. We need to use roasted masala to get traditional taste and flavour to this curry. Jack fruit is the favourite items for Keralites and it will be available in summer season. It is very spicy masala curry and can be make it very easily with limited ingredients. I know that everyone like jack fruit very much so this masala curry also will be very special to everyone. It is homemade curry and completely natural without any chemicals and artificial ingredients. It is mainly served as the side dish of rice and chapati for lunch and dinner. It will be very good to use at any time. It will have the flavour of roasted coconut taste and flavour. It is very thick masala curry and be very good to those who likes traditional dishes.

Jack Fruit Flesh - 20
Garlic - 2
Green Chilli - 4
Shallot - 10
Onion - 2
Red Chilli - 8
Coriander Seeds - 1 Tab spoon
Black Pepper Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Fennel Seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon
Coconut Oil - 2 Tab spoon
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Water - 1 1/2 cups
Salt - To Taste

  • Slice jack fruit flesh and put it in a pan.
  • Remove the peel of Onion and Wash well and slice it.
  • Remove the peel of Shallots and wash well and chop it.
  • Wash Green Chilli well and cut it into two pieces.
  • In a pan, add sliced Jack Fruit, sliced Onion, chopped Shallots and Green Chilli pieces.
  • Add salt and pour 1 cup water to this and cook it for 15 minutes and keep it aside.
  • In another pan, roast grated coconut until brown colour and keep it aside.
  • Then add red chilli, coriander seeds, black pepper seeds and fennel seeds and roast it well.
  • In a blender, add these roasted items including roasted grated coconut and pour 1/2 cup water and make it thick and fine paste.
  • Add this paste to cooked jack fruit and mix and cook it for 10 minutes.
  • Turn off the fire and mix well and keep it aside.
  • In a pan, heat oil and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Then add shallot, curry leaves and green chilli and fry it.
  • Add this into curry and mix it and serve it.
  • If you need more taste roast red chilli powder and coriander powder in coconut oil.
  • To get more taste and creamy effect cook it in a coconut milk instead of using water.
