FRIED FISH WITH SPICY MASALA

Ingredients

Mackerel or Ayala Fish - 500 gm
Ginger Paste - 1 teaspoon
Garlic Paste - 1 teaspoon
Onion - 2
Green Chili - 5
Tomato - 2
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Chilli Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Black Pepper Powder - 1 teaspoon
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
White Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut Milk - 1/2 Cup
Coconut Oil - 1/4 Cup
Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon
Chopped Shallots - 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 2 Sprigs
Salt - To Taste

Method

  • Clean and wash Fish well and cut it as medium sized pieces.
  • Marinate it with Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Black Pepper Powder and Salt.
  • Pour Coconut Oil in a frying pan and add marinated Fish pieces into this and fry both sides and keep it aside in a bowl.
  • Add Ginger and Garlic paste into the same pan and fry well.
  • Then add sliced Onion into this and saute it well for sometimes.
  • To this add chopped Tomato, chopped Green Chilli and Salt and saute well.
  • Then add Fennel Seeds Powder and White Pepper Powder into this and mix well.
  • Pour Coconut Milk into this and mix well.
  • Finally add fried Fish pieces into this and cook it well and make it thick as desired under medium flame.
  • In a small pan, heat Coconut Oil and fry both Shallots and Curry Leaves.
  • Add this mixture into curry and mix well and serve it in a serving bowl with Rice and Chapati.
Tips
  • Use any fish to make this dish.
  • Add some Vinegar if you need more sour taste.
  • Adjust the quantity of masala powders as per your taste.
  • Use vegetable oil instead Coconut Oil.
